Come and join us to help design and make banners to celebrate the culture of each country in the World Cup 2018.

Art of Football is an arts programme to be held in Liverpool, to coincide with the World Cup.  Part of the festival involves community art - we are asking members of the 32 World Cup nations to come together to create 32 football banners  - one for each of their countries.  The aim is to inspire the participants creatively and then to parade the banners through Liverpool City Centre to mark the start of the World Cup (14th June).

We would love for people in Merseyside, to get involved with the project, specifically to help to design a large banner to represent the 32 national teams (this could be words or imagery).  Workshops take place on the 12th May and 19th May at The Florrie, 377 Mill Street, Liverpool, L8 4RF from 10-6.30pm.

We then ask the same group of people (and more) to help to parade the banner through the streets of Liverpool on June 14th, after the conclusion of the first match in the World Cup 2018.  This will be a large parade featuring members of all of the communities of the 32 World Cup countries.

The banners will be housed in Liverpool Museum’s Martin Luther King Jnr. educational centre in Liverpool's Albert Dock for the duration of the World Cup, where they will provide inspiration for groups of school children to produce their own football art.   You would be most welcome to come to take part and bring your friends.

We want to inspire people both artistically and also with the understanding that we are not so very different.
